The Tidal Trent at Littleborough is a prime length of the river. We have an access licence with the Foljambe Estate to fish three and a half miles of the Tidal Section western bank from Littleborough to West Burton Power Station. It holds quality silver fish, carp and predators. The fishing rights on a tidal river are owned by the Crown.
Car parking is available on the foreshore at Littleborough and at the byway half way down the stretch.
The Club maintain a few pegs close to the vehicle access points, but the rest of the stretch is wild fishing. Overnighting is permitted provided members arrive and leave at a reasonable hour so as not to disturb local residents.
Keep nets and micro barbed hooks are permitted, but we ask that sizable specimens are not kept in nets and should be returned to the water as soon as practically possible.
The River Trent is one of our major rivers and the third longest river in the United Kingdom. Its source is in Staffordshire and it flows through the centre of England until it joins the River Ouse to form the River Humber which empties into the North Sea. The lower reaches are tidal.
It is unusual amongst English rivers in that it flows north (for the second half of its route), and is also unusual in exhibiting a tidal bore, the “Aegir”. The area drained by the river includes most of the northern Midlands.
Prior to fishing the river members need to make themselves fully conversant with tide times and published safety guidance on fishing tidal rivers.
