Overview

The River Don is an environmental success story, in the 70’s it was riddled with pollution and now holds a good head of roach, perch, minnows, grayling, barbel, chub and trout. Its source lies in the Pennines high above Sheffield.

Soon after it flows into the City of Sheffield the river runs through the grounds of the South Yorkshire Police Sports and Social Club at Niagara Sports Ground, Niagara Road, Sheffield before its onward journey through the City to Rotherham, Doncaster and then out towards Goole where it flows into the Humber.

This natural fishery offers an opportunity to catch a variety of river species using natural baits and a small rod. You have to make your way down the bank and find a spot to fish. There are deep pools holding some nice chub, perch, trout & grayling.

Car parking is on the car park adjacent to Niagara Conference & Leisure, Niagara Road, Sheffield. Members are able to use the Club facilities; on site car parking, bar and toilets.

The leisure centre is open all day. It is an ideal location for family celebrations, see their website link for details.
