Grafton Angling Association holds the fishing rights on just under three miles of the Chesterfield Canal from the concrete road bridge in Shireoaks to Brace Bridge (44) at Manton on the Retford side of Worksop.
This length includes the Lock Keeper and Shaw’s stretch renowned in canal match fishing circles. It holds a good head of silver fish and predators. Over the years the association has stocked it with silver fish.
Only full members of SYPAC are permitted to fish access waters. Water specific members cannot fish this water, so would either have to join Grafton AA or purchase a day ticket. We make a block purchase of permits each year enabling full members of SYPAC to fish this water.
This is a day ticket water, so the bailiff makes regular visits. You must carry your current SYPAC membership card with you ate all times and clearly display your box sticker.
On street parking is available either alongside or nearby to the canal.
Being in an urban area the towpath on the Worksop part of the stretch can be reasonably busy at times. Members should bear other towpath users in mind, keeping tackle close to their peg and if using a pole ship sideways.
Membership of Grafton AA is £17 a year to join contact Ian Scott email: firstname.lastname@example.org
