This season each of our bailiffs has a Club tee shirt and they will wear them from time to time. Control of Disease - David Frost - Club Secretary USE OF NETS IN MATCHES & WHILST PLEASURE FISHING With a view to protecting the clubs stock of carp in Mirlwyn Lake WW1, Colwyn Lake WW2 and Woodsetts from the risk of contracting KHV, we have sought advice on the best way to eliminate the chances of our fisheries from contracting it. Carp diseases are most prevalent during the spring time and should we introduce the disease during that time we could suffer fish losses. There are many ways in which the disease can be brought into a fishery some of which are out of our control but the use of keepnets during matches is one potential source. The policy will be that before the commencement of all matches keeps nets and landing nets must be spread along the bankside and allowed exposure to daylight for one hour before they are placed into the water for use. Ultra violet light kills off the KHV and other carp viruses and is the only practical way the club can attempt to keep the disease at bay. I ask that this is self regulated amongst match anglers, advice notices will be sent out with all match bookings. Potentially the risk also applies to the stock at Woodsetts and whilst keep nets are not used on that water as matches are not permitted we ask that members apply the same criteria to landing nets. Club Website – www.sypac.co.uk – Free Prize Draw for £50 cash – Bob Simpson Our site has a facility whereby members can register their email address to receive Club Newsletters and email circulations on matters of interest or importance. This facility improves our communication and in the long term will reduce postage costs as we make more use of it in the future. There will be a free draw for £50 – all you have to do is register with the site to receive the newsletter by 12 midnight on Wednesday 4th March 2009 and your email address will go into the free draw which will be made at the AGM on the 5th March. Do not worry if you are not of the www. generation get one of the family, a friend or neighbour to register on your behalf, we will contact the winning address by email, ask for your 2009 membership number and post the cheque to the address shown on the Club data base.
